Controversy resolved from Troy Sheridan’s Journey Fight Series match!

It has been a month ever since Troy Sheridan‘s first round tournament match in Calgary against Ken Tran that ended up a controversial decision. You can read about what originally happened from our previous blog HERE. After filing a complaint to the Calgary Athletic Commission and waiting all this time, a final decision has been made after reviewing DVD footage. The elbow that Troy threw has been determined to be legal (landing to the side of the head) and the Technical Draw decision has been changed to a TKO Victory for Troy! This means that Troy advances to the next round of the tournament that takes place on November 3rd!

This is what Troy had to say about the whole situation when it happened and during the waiting process:
“I wasn’t quite sure what was going on, waiting for the decision in the ring I had mixed emotions. You never know what’s going to happen and there’s nothing you can do but wait. But our whole team had people advising us to make an appeal and that’s exactly what we did. Waiting for the results of the appeal was a nightmare at first. But as time went on and I watched the tape I had no doubts it would be in my favour. I feel like a huge weight has been lifted. I can close the chapter on this and now focus on what’s to come. I’ll now be facing the winner of another quarter finals bout. But am hoping to compete even before that. But having this win on my record now against an opponent with 10+  years of professional experience and a great record surely boosts my confidence and makes me feel even more ready for the next opportunity.”

This is all great news for Troy and Team Ultimate which adds another victory to the win column! We look forward to Troy’s next fight and we’ll keep everyone posted when it comes up!
